I recently had the pleasure of listening to Samantha Lyttle from Market Launch at a KBN Business breakfast meeting.

Samantha’s expert model creates a framework for becoming an authority in your niche and ties in nicely with Google authorship and becoming an expert in Google’s eyes.

Google Authorship Means

1. Your image will come up next to your search results and therefore increase your click through rate

On the left you can see the majority of people click on number one. Some on number 2 and very little on 3 and 4. On the right when there is a picture less people click on number 1 and more people click on number 3 then number 2.

2. Google will see you as an expert in the field compared to people who do not have their content linked to their Google plus profile. The quality of what you write will determine how you rate against others in your niche.

3. If you are seen as an expert in your field by Google then your content will rank higher throughout the web.

So What Should You Write About?

As Samantha says building your authority from a brand perspective is essential in business right now. From a marketing perspective being seen as a credible expert is more important then it has ever been. Building rapport and trust is much easier when you are seen as an authority in your market place.

There Are Four Levels in The Expert Model

Reporter – Report on what experts in your field are saying

Technician – Sharing your story, and your own case studies

Expert – You become your brand, use lots of social proof and link case studies of your success with testimonials from clients. Teach what you have mastered.

Guru – You are now referred to by others as a Guru, massive social proof, reference other Guru’s
